Ervino Rieger
An evening with Brazilian-born pianist Ervino Rieger, one of the prominent emerging pianists of his generation.
Ervino Rieger brings a distinctive voice to the piano, combining refined musicianship, expressive depth, and a strong connection to the rich traditions of Brazilian and European classical music. His performances have taken him to stages across Latin America and the United States, where he has collaborated with orchestras and conductors including the Montevideo Philharmonic, GRU Symphony, and Porto Alegre Symphony.
A Silver Medalist at the Chopin National Competition in Brazil and recipient of its Special Prize for Best Performance of a Nocturne, Rieger has also received first prizes at the WPTA Portugal International Competition and Young Soloists Competitions of the GRU Symphony and Botucatu Symphony Orchestra. He is also a recipient of the Nelson Freire Prize at the Rio International Piano Festival.
Rieger holds a master’s degree from the New England Conservatory, where he studied with Meng-Chieh Liu, and is currently studying with Adam Neiman at the Chicago College of Performing Arts as a recipient of the CPA Scholarship. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, studying with Ney Fialkow.
